Sweet sunlight from The Bridges

Matthew Sweet produced their debut, and it certainly lives up to his surname.

"Limits of the Sky," the solar-powered first outing from fresh-faced pop ensemble The Bridges, teems with sugary three-part harmonies that sound as if they were spun from Cool Whip.

Consisting of four sisters and their brother, this Oxford, Ala., quintet makes classic, AM radio-style pop that could elicit a smile from an eggplant.

"It's you against the sunlight," they sing on the album opening "All The Words," and guess what? The sunlight wins.

See the band at 7 p.m. Thursday at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $19; call 632-7600.
