Bullhead City Council member Wise dies at 63

KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Flags are flying at half-staff in Bullhead City after Tuesday's death of City Councilman J.B. Wise, 63.

City spokeswoman Emily Montague said Wise died at 7:30 a.m. at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center of complications from back surgery performed in mid-July in California.

Wise was appointed to the Bullhead City Council in December 2006. He also served as a member of the Mohave County Planning and Zoning Commission.

"J.B. was more than just a colleague, he was a best friend," Bullhead City Mayor Jack Hakim said. "We will all miss him. His love for our city was equal to none."

Wise is the third elected Bullhead City official to die in the past two years. Vice Mayor Don Sullivan died Aug. 13, 2006.

Franz Bruck resigned from the City Council because declining health in July 2006, and he died two months later.

Wise is survived by Teri, his wife of 44 years, four children, 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
