Suspect in killings ordered to trial

The man accused of opening fire into a crowd at Bob Baskin Park and killing two people is headed for a murder trial.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Karen Bennett-Haron said Monday there is enough evidence to send Jessie James Cole, 21, to District Court. Cole faces multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon.

Cole is accused of shooting 19-year-old Chris Luscombe and 18-year-old David Miramontes at Bob Baskin Park on June 8. Miramontes died at the park; Luscombe lingered for 18 days before dying at University Medical Center.

Authorities said Cole fired the shots at the park after two groups of girls fought at a house party.

Witnesses who testified during Cole's preliminary hearing said the fight started after one group of girls gave another group a dirty look.

After Cole was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in June, he told a medical staffer that he didn't remember the shooting but believed the evidence pointed to him.
