Grizzlies cruise past Hornets

The Memphis Grizzlies never relinquished the lead in the second half and coasted to an 88-75 victory over the New Orleans Hornets.

O.J. Mayo had only three points in the second half and finished with 15 for Memphis. Darrell Arthur scored 18 points to lead the Grizzlies.

New Grizzlies assistant coach Kevin O'Neill was in the stands. He was in Las Vegas as Arizona's interim head coach when the Wildcats visited the Thomas & Mack Center last season.

Hilton Armstong had team highs of 13 points and nine rebounds for New Orleans, with head coach and NBA Coach of the Year Byron Scott looking on from the stands. Former UNLV forward Dalron Johnson never got in the game.

Detroit will take on the Lakers next. The Pistons feature breakout guard Rodney Stuckey and former BYU forward Trent Plaisted. The Lakers have former UNLV recruit and USC star Davon Jefferson and former UNR guard Marcelus Kemp.
