UNLV legend watches over his team

Well, the Kings are in action first today against the Toronto Raptors, and that can only mean one thing -- UNLV legend Reggie Theus is in the building to watch over his Sacramento squad. Theus was hounded for autographs before the game as much as anyone has been in the first two days of the league.

When the action on the court finally began, we had one of the most competitive first halves of the league. Joey Graham scored 15 points for the Raptors, who took a 44-43 halftime lead. Spencer Hawes scored 14 for Sacramento. Quincy Douby added nine, all in the first half.

Utah State product Jaycee Carroll had two first-half points for Toronto.

Jason Thompson may have been a surprise lottery pick by the Kings, but he’s at least proving to be a quick study. In his first few minutes of action, the rookie from tiny Rider College in New Jersey looked completely lost on both ends of the floor. He has corrected things, though, and looked pretty smooth in the second quarter. And yet, just as quickly as he’s complimented, Thompson commited a turnover, then his fourth foul. It’s a learning process. At the half, Thompson had five points, two rebounds, five fouls and three turnovers.
Sacramento’s roster also features Patrick Ewing Jr., but as of yet, there is no sign of his famous father.
