‘Quiet Storm’ lifts Warriors

When he was 16, C.J. Watson was nicknamed “Quiet Storm.” He has the words
tattooed on his right arm.
“My sister gave the nickname to me,” the Bishop Gorman High graduate said.
“She said I’m quiet by nature, but my game hits you like a storm.”
Watson is lightning quick, and he’s showing positive flashes as a
second-year point guard for the Golden State Warriors. He had 14 points and
four steals to help lift the Warriors to a 95-86 victory over the Dallas
Mavericks.
Undrafted out of Tennessee, Watson played in 32 games for Golden State last
season. He has a chance to get more minutes at the point for the Warriors,
who lost free agent Baron Davis to the Los Angeles Clippers. Watson is
waiting to see whom the Warriors will sign to replace Davis.
“I’m trying to get the backup spot, if not the starting spot,” Watson said.
“I’ve got to make them keep me.”
Watson made his only 3-point attempt and shot 7-for-11 on free throws.
Former UNLV standout Louis Amundson finished with nine points, five
rebounds and seven fouls for Golden State. Marco Belinelli, a shooting
guard from Italy, scored 25 points to lead the Warriors (2-0).
