Minor earthquakes continue to jostle Northern Nevada

RENO -- A magnitude 3.2 earthquake shook Mineral County, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The temblor that struck shortly before 10 p.m. Friday was centered near the historic mining town of Rawhide about 115 miles southeast of Reno, officials with the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

"I didn't even know we had a quake," a sheriff's dispatcher in Hawthorne said Saturday.

At least nine minor quakes also were reported Saturday on the west edge of Reno, the strongest a 2.8 temblor that hit shortly after 2 a.m.

They were the latest in a series of quakes that began Feb. 28 in Reno.

The swarm has produced thousands of mostly minor quakes, with the strongest so far a 4.7 quake on April 25.
