Pitching gem helps Patriots edge Wolves

Breanna English tossed a four-hitter and struck out 13 on Thursday as Liberty's softball team nipped host Basic, 1-0.

Kristina Foti was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in Diana Cassaro with the game's only run in the top of the third inning.

The win moves the Patriots (17-9, 4-4) into fourth place in the Southeast Division. The Wolves are 7-11 and 2-7.

• Silverado 12, Del Sol 5 -- At Del Sol, Lauren Drummond went 4-for-4 to lead a 22-hit attack as the Skyhawks downed the Dragons (3-11, 2-7 Southeast).

Mikayla Thielges, Alex Garcia and Taylor Lampela each went 3-for-5 for Silverado (16-2), which pulled into a tie with idle Foothill for first place in the Southeast Division at 8-1.

Del Sol committed 12 errors.

• Green Valley 6, Coronado 1 -- At Coronado, Annamarie Smith went 4-for-5 as the Gators (16-7, 7-2 Southeast) downed the Cougars (10-20, 4-5).

Green Valley's Carly Smith added a double and triple.

Alicia Firelein tossed a three-hitter to pick up the victory.

• Cimarron-Memorial 23, Mojave 1 -- At Cimarron, Chelsea Williams was 3-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBIs as the Spartans routed the Rattlers in five innings.

Felicia Valdez was 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Cimarron (14-12, 7-2 Northwest), Madison Newhard was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and Vanessa Gonzalez was 3-for-4.

Winning pitcher Paige Savage tossed a one-hitter and struck out seven.

Mojave (2-11, 0-9) committed 12 errors.

• Shadow Ridge 4, Arbor View 1 -- At Arbor View, Jasmine Harris was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs to help the top-ranked Mustangs (16-0, 0-0 Northwest) defeat the Aggies (12-11, 3-6).

Jackie Pugliese went 3-for-3 for Shadow Ridge.

Kayla Anderson was 2-for-3 with a triple for Arbor View, and Kayla DeVries added an RBI single.

• Centennial 14, Legacy 1 -- At Legacy, Alyssa Rampa went 4-for-5 with a triple, and the Bulldogs scored 11 first-inning runs in a rout of the Longhorns (10-9, 3-6 Northwest).

Johnna Brown went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Centennial (22-6, 7-2).

• Palo Verde 5, Cheyenne 0 -- At Cheyenne, Missy McCormick tossed a three-hitter and struck out 13 to lead the Panthers past the Desert Shields (5-15, 1-8 Northwest).

McCormick was 2-for-3 for Palo Verde (12-9, 6-3).

Jasmine Fukuda went 2-for-4 with a double for Cheyenne.

• Lake Mead 11, Calvary Chapel 0 -- At Morrell Park, Amanda Wellman went 3-for-3 to help the Eagles beat the Lions in five innings.

Sam Herman had a three-run double for Lake Mead.

Lynzee Freund tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out seven.

• River Valley (Ariz.) 11-1, Pahrump Valley 9-8 -- At Pahrump, the Trojans and Dust Devils split a doubleheader.
