TV: Survey says? Ehh

Mr. Las Vegas himself helps NBC kick off “Celebrity Family Feud” tonight (8 p.m., KVBC-TV, Channel 3), but despite the added star power — Ice T’s family vs. Joan and Melissa Rivers’ clan! Wayne Newton’s family vs. Raven-Symone’s! — it’s actually less entertaining than an ordinary, run-of-the-mill, regular-folks-off-the-street episode.
Yeah, there’s some WWE-style smack talk between the celebs, but everything is so rushed to get three games completed in an hour — the winners of each round square off for a chance to play the bonus game and win up to $50,000 for their charities — there’s not much there to enjoy.
You tune in expecting the celebrities to be out of touch with the ordinary Americans who provide the answers, but so far, that’s not the case. (At least not with the Newtons — Wayne, wife Kathleen, daughter Erin, mother-in-law Marilyn and sister-in-law Tricia.)
There’s certainly nothing along the lines of the old “Saturday Night Live” sketch that saw the Baldwins taking on an average family from Minnesota. “Name something you’d find in the bathroom.” Alec: “Daily Variety.” Kim Basinger: “A People’s Choice Award.” Billy: “A fax machine.” Stephen: “A personal trainer.”
But there’s still hope. Next week’s episode will feature “The Sopranos’ ” Vincent Pastore vs. “The Girls Next Door” and Kathie Lee Gifford vs. Dog the Bounty Hunter.
