McCain campaigns in Las Vegas

Republican presidential candidate John McCain gave a speech wrapping up his energy platform at UNLV this morning.

The Arizona senator detailed his proposals for freeing America from its dependence on foreign oil, including domestic offshore drilling and nuclear power. He described the issue as the central concern facing the nation and said now is the time to act.

"America's dependence on foreign oil was a troubling situation 35 years ago. It was an alarming situation 20 years ago," he said. "It's a dangerous situation today."

McCain remains in Southern Nevada this afternoon for a fundraiser and to open his regional headquarters in Henderson.
