Sparks will appeal judge’s ethics ruling

SPARKS -- Sparks City Attorney Chet Adams said the city will appeal a judge's ruling that Councilman Mike Carrigan should have abstained from voting on the Lazy 8 Casino project.

Adams said he will ask the Nevada Supreme Court to expedite a hearing on the issue.

At a court hearing earlier this month, Carson City District Judge Bill Maddox denied the city's appeal of a state Ethics Commission ruling that said Carrigan shouldn't have voted on the matter because of his relationship with Red Hawk Land Co. representative Carlos Vasquez.
