Summerlin will showcase homes

Three of the 13 homes featured in the 2008 Las Vegas Parade of Homes are located in the village of The Ridges in Summerlin.

Dubbed the "crown jewel" of the parade, The Falls home is on a nearly 3-acre lot at 59 Promontory Ridge Way.

This 14,070-square-foot home features five bedrooms, seven baths, catering kitchen, dining area with four temperature-controlled wine cellars and outdoor entertaining areas such as a 60-foot cascading waterfall, infinity-edge pool, private grotto, outdoor kitchen and mature landscaping. Built by MonaCo Development and designed by SCA Design, this home sells for $18.5 million.

Located at 38 Hawk Ridge Road is the Desert Oasis home. This 7,200-square-foot residence features four bedrooms, six baths, master retreat, theater and an infinity-edge pool overlooking Bear's Best Las Vegas Golf Course. Abundant stone and wood elements are showcased in this home with hand-scraped hickory flooring, cherrywood cabinets and doors, travertine flooring and a redwood ceiling. Built by Domanico Custom Homes and designed by Design Dwell Architecture, the home sells for $5.8 million.

The "Shi-Engara," which means integrity of design in Japanese, is located on 73 Meadow Hawk.

The 6,896-square-foot home features five bedrooms and 61/2 baths, warm tones and a disappearing glass door off the family room that opens to a pool with waterfall and breathtaking views.

Designed by SCA Designs, this home is selling for $5.25 million.

The Ridges is a nearly 800-acre, guard-gated residential village that features custom home neighborhoods.

Nestled against the mountainside adjacent to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, the village also features views of the Las Vegas Valley and the Strip.

Amenities include the golf course, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and Club Ridges, an exclusive fitness and health club that features private tennis courts, swimming pools, fitness center and community center for the exclusive use of Ridges residents.

The Howard Hughes Corp. commenced development on The Ridges in 2000. Three years later, the neighborhood was named America's third most exclusive gated community by Forbes.com.

Last summer, a completed and furnished custom home in Promontory sold for $7.85 million, or $1,047 per square foot, setting the record for sales price per square foot in the Las Vegas Valley.

In March 2008, another record was set with the sale of a $9 million custom lot, which translates to nearly $3 million per acre, or about $61 per square foot -- the highest price ever paid in The Ridges for a custom lot.

"For a number of reasons, The Ridges has maintained its reputation as one of Southern Nevada's most exclusive luxury communities," said Kevin Orrock, top division executive, The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "A Summerlin address with access to the community's abundant amenities, adjacency to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, proximity to major retail and dining under development in Summerlin Centre and a growing collection of the valley's most spectacular homes -- all come together to make The Ridges what it is today."

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990.

Located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with about 9,000 acres still remaining to develop. The community is home to more than 95,000 total residents.

Summerlin's amenities include more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, medical facilities, 22 public and private schools and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.
