Buckner, Tucson hand 51s third straight setback

Billy Buckner pitched six effective innings, and Don Kelly had three RBIs to lead the Tucson Sidewinders to a 7-5 Pacific Coast League win over the 51s on Friday in Tucson, Ariz.

Buckner (3-4) held Las Vegas (28-27) to two earned runs despite allowing eight hits and three walks. He struck out four.

Kelly's RBI single in the fourth inning, which tied the score at 3, came after Trot Nixon and Jamie D'Antona hit back-to-back doubles. Kelly drove in two runs with a two-out double in the seventh that put the Sidewinders (20-36) up 7-3.

The 51s, who have lost three straight, got a two-run, pinch-hit single from Sergio Garcia in the eighth to get within 7-5.

Xavier Paul went 3-for-5 with a two-out RBI single in the fourth for Las Vegas.

Right-hander Justin Orenduff started for the 51s and gave up three runs in four innings. Left-hander Matt Riley (0-1) took the loss.
