Woman in wheelchair struck, killed

A 61-year-old woman in a motorized wheelchair was killed Thursday in a hit-and-run accident, Las Vegas police said.

Jeanne Sweeney, of Las Vegas, died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center about three hours after the 7:15 p.m. incident on Mojave Road north of Desert Inn Road. She was crossing the road in her wheelchair outside of a crosswalk when a vehicle ran into her, police said. The vehicle, possibly a white Chevrolet pickup, left the scene.
