Desert Pines downs Eldorado to clinch Northeast crown
Andrea Jefferson scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as Desert Pines clinched the Northeast Division girls basketball title Friday night by posting a 66-61 victory over visiting Eldorado.
Ta'Quiyyah Boyles scored 13 points for the Jaguars (14-5, 10-1 Northeast), Ashley Flemming 11 and LaBrea Walker and Clarissa Davis 10 apiece.
Sabrina Evans led the Sundevils with 18 points, and Tonisha McGee scored 16.
• Basic 49, Foothill 48 -- At Basic, Lauren Johnson made two free throws with six seconds remaining to lift the Wolves over the Falcons.
Maya Darby had 13 points, and Johnson and Marquichea Burns each scored 10 for Basic.
Mercedes Starr and Brittney Bell each had 11 points to lead Foothill.
• Silverado 75, Liberty 48 -- At Silverado, Jessica Schmidt had 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Skyhawks over the Patriots.
Shea Collins had 18 points for Silverado, and Natalie Lainhart scored 13.
Amanda Delgado scored 13 points for Liberty.
• Rancho 59, Canyon Springs 37 -- At Rancho, Khalia Branch had 29 points and 11 rebounds to spark the Rams.
Rancho took a 27-22 halftime lead and broke open the game in the second half.
Amber Torsky had 12 points and Amanda Kilgore 10 for Canyon Springs.
• Bishop Gorman 58, Bonanza 54 -- At Bonanza, Aaryn Ellenberg scored 16 points to help the Gaels hold off a rally by the Bengals, who trailed 46-35 after three quarters.
Gorman's Yahindra Edwards scored 11 and Ashley Gayle 10.
Bonanza's Asta Galaviz had a team-high 16 points, Alice Pitts scored 12 and Christin Figgins 10.
• Valley 45, Chaparral 40 -- At Valley, Vanessa Corona had 17 points and nine rebounds as the Vikings built a 28-16 halftime lead and held on for the victory.
Lista Duwyenie-Hodges led Chaparral with 14 points.
• Sierra Vista 61, Spring Valley 25 -- At Spring Valley, Jessica Mojica scored 15 points as the Lions cruised past the Grizzlies.
Jeanette Jackson had 12 points and Brianna Tolliver 11 for Sierra Vista.
Tierra Newman and C.C. Wimberly each scored nine points for Spring Valley.
• Green Valley 92, Del Sol 18 -- At Green Valley, Victoria Naylor had 23 points, 12 assists and 10 steals as the Gators routed the Dragons.
Jazmine Jarvis added 21 points for Green Valley, which led 26-3 after one quarter.
Danielle Christenson added 13 points, Sarah Pickus 12 and Aja Flippen 10 for the Gators.
• Faith Lutheran 47, Boulder City 39 -- At Boulder City, Seanie Petersen scored 13 points and Sabby Yeghiazarian 11 to lead the Crusaders over the Eagles.
Caiti Forrester scored a game-high 22 points for Boulder City.
• Pahrump Valley 35, Virgin Valley 33 -- At Pahrump Valley, Kristi Daffer scored 17 points to lead the Trojans past the Bulldogs.
Pahrump Valley led 14-11 at halftime and expanded the lead to 24-18 after three quarters before Virgin Valley rallied in the fourth quarter.
• Mountain View 56, Lake Mead 40 -- At Lake Mead, Randall Van Kempen had 23 points and Ellie Markwardt 21 to lead the Saints.
• Needles (Calif.) 68, The Meadows 37 -- At The Meadows, Gena Chavira scored 20 points to lead Needles.
Adelaide Lopez scored 12 points for The Meadows, and Bonnie McKnight had 12 rebounds.
