Autopsy today for man killed in motel fire

A man died Wednesday in a fire at a motel in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Police believe the victim was the occupant of the room where the fire ignited at 1:25 a.m. at the Shakespeare Inn.

"Initial investigation suggests alcohol and carelessly discarded smoking materials may be a factor," police Sgt. Troy Stirling said. "There is no suspicion of foul play."

Identification efforts continue with an autopsy scheduled for today. Stirling said damage to five motel units initially was estimated at $218,000.
