The way it was

In 1966 both Channel 3 and the Review-Journal were owned by the Donrey Media Group. The two news outlets combined election coverage that year with what was then a state of the art "election central".

The first picture below is a fun read for old-timers who will remember many of the names on the board. The second picture was taken in July 1970 and is a reminder of the way it was in politics back then. The crowd was gathered for the awards night gathering for the Southern Nevada Independent Youth Athletic Association Baseball League at Potoesky Field at the First Christian Church at Rancho and Mesquite. The truck at right supports candidates running for office taking advantage of the gathering to do a little campaigning.
