Running back Ward re-signs with Giants
Oft-injured running back Derrick Ward re-signed with the New York Giants on Friday.
Ward rushed for 602 yards and three touchdowns before a broken left leg ended his season in December.
Ward also caught 26 passes for 179 yards and another TD.
Also: The trial of suspended NFL quarterback Michael Vick on state dogfighting charges in Surry, Va., has been delayed.
Vick was scheduled to stand trial April 2. The Surry County Commonwealth Attorney's office says no new date has been set. The trial will be rescheduled March 25.
Vick is serving a 23-month federal prison term in Leavenworth, Kan.
Tight end Ben Utecht signed an offer sheet with the Cincinnati Bengals for a three-year contract.
The fourth-year pro is a restricted free agent from the Indianapolis Colts. They can keep him by matching the Bengals' offer within a week.
The Detroit Lions released safety Kenoy Kennedy and signed cornerback Brian Kelly to a three-year deal.
Linebacker Derrick Pope signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings. He started nine games for Miami last season.
The Oakland Raiders signed free-agent defensive tackle William Joseph. He missed all of last season for the New York Giants with a back injury.
Louisiana State will make Les Miles the highest-paid football coach in the Southeastern Conference under a renegotiated five-year contract agreement.
Miles will make at least $3.75 million plus $1,000 a year in a deal that nudges him ahead of Alabama coach Nick Saban.

Knicks' Curry to have season-ending surgery
New York Knicks center Eddy Curry will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, ending his season.
The Knicks said Curry will have a piece of torn cartilage removed next week. Recovery time is expected to be four to six weeks.
Also: The Seattle SuperSonics and Oklahoma City reached a preliminary agreement on a lease at the Ford Center, pending NBA approval of the team's move.
Longtime Rice coach Willis Wilson was fired after the Owls finished 3-27 overall and 0-16 in Conference USA.
Wilson was 219-246 in 16 seasons.

American Vonn wins World Cup overall title
Lindsey Vonn won the World Cup overall title, completing the first U.S. men's and women's sweep in 25 years a day after Bode Miller won the same crown.
The last Americans to hold both titles were Phil Mahre and Tamara McKinney in 1983.
Vonn secured the title when she finished in the top 15 in the slalom in Bormio, Italy, and Maria Riesch of Germany failed to finish.
Also: Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby said he will miss another week to recover from a high ankle sprain.
Carolina Hurricanes forward Ray Whitney will have ankle surgery today and could miss the rest of the regular season.
Maria Sharapova won her 15th straight match without a loss this year, overpowering French qualifier Stephanie Cohen-Aloro 6-1, 6-0 in the second round of the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, Calif.
CBS golf analyst David Feherty broke three ribs and punctured his lung when he was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle near his home in Dallas. He expects to be fully recovered in time for the Masters.
