Best office, industrial buildings in valley win Spotlight Awards

Pavilion and the Equipment Management Technology Center took Best Building honors Saturday night at the 11th annual National Association of Industrial and Office Properties Spotlight Awards. More than 800 Las Vegas-area professionals in the commercial real estate industry attended the gala ceremony at Green Valley Ranch Resort.

John Restrepo, principal and founder of Restrepo Consulting Group and the NAIOP's Southern Nevada Chapter president, hosted the event and presented awards in several categories, assisted by the cast of the Las Vegas production show, "The Rat Pack is Back."

"I would like to congratulate this year's Spotlight award winners," Restrepo said. "The Spotlight Awards honor individuals and companies for their excellence in development and their contributions to the industry and community. Tonight's winners represent the best of the best and are shining examples for their peers."

The Office Building of the Year, Pavilion, was developed by Charleston Pavilion LLC, designed by KKE/HFTA Architects and built by Whiting-Turner Construction Co. Pavilion is located at 10801 W. Charleston Blvd. at Pavilion Center Drive.

The Industrial Building of the Year, Equipment Management Technology Center, was developed by Longo Properties, designed by John Vivier Architect and built by Matt Construction. It stands at 1525 Pama Lane, just south of Sunset Road, off Spencer Street.

The Honor Award winners by category, project and developer include the following:

Redevelopment Project, Faciliteq by Ken Avo LLC; Special Purpose Development, Hangar Seven at Paradise Aviation by The Molasky Group of Companies; Industrial Building Incubator/Flex, Giroux Glass by Giroux Glass; Industrial Building Mid Bay/Distribution, Equipment Management Technology Center by Longo Properties; Common Area Design, Rainbow Sunset Pavilion/Building A by Plise Development and Construction LLC; Office Interiors, City National Bank-Corporate and Wealth Management Offices by City National Bank; Industrial Interiors, WMS Gaming by Stoltz Management.

Other Honor Award winners: Office Building-Single Story, The Park at Spanish Ridge Building 5 by GSG Development; Office Building-Two Story, Parkway Pointe by Christopher Commercial; Office Building-Three-Four Story, Corporate Gateway II by Thomas & Mack Development Group; and Office Building-Five Plus Story, Pavilion by Charleston Pavilion LLC.

Awards also went to the following: Small Industrial Building Park, Polaris Crossing by Cross Creek Development; Master Planned Industrial Park, Speedway Commerce Center Phase II by Harsch Investment Proprieties; Small Building Office Park, Durango Village by SAXA; and Multiple Use Business Park, Rainbow Sunset Pavilion by Plise Development and Construction LLC.

Along with the Honor Awards handed out during the evening's festivities, NAIOP presented Industry Awards to some of its local chapter members. Brad Schnepf of Marnell Properties received the Principal Member of the Year Award and Barbara Demaree of Southwest Gas received the Associate Member of the Year Award. Tony Dazzio of Burke & Associates received the Special Recognition Award.

Industry Awards were also presented to companies that demonstrated excellence in their field. EJM Development Co. received the award for Trendsetter Firm of the Year. Firm of the Year honors in various categories went to Thomas & Mack Development Group for development, Dekker/Perich/Sabatini for architecture, Burke & Associates for general contractor, WRG Design Inc. for engineering and Colliers International-Las Vegas for brokerage.

Awards also were handed out to NAIOP members honoring their achievements during the past year within their specific fields. The CB Richard Ellis Team of Broadhead and Peterson received Office Broker of the Year laurels, while the Voit Commercial Brokerage Team of Higgins, Paravia and Toft were named Industrial Broker of the Year.

In addition to individual and team awards, Molasky Corporate Center received a Special Recognition Award for being the first office building in the Las Vegas Valley certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design structure (see photo, page 1L). The Molasky Corporate Center, home of the Southern Nevada Water Authority, is located downtown at 100 City Parkway.

NAIOP is a Herndon, Va.-based trade association for developers, owners, investors and other professionals in industrial, office and mixed-use commercial real estate. Founded in 1967, it comprises more than 15,000 members in 55 chapters throughout North America. The group provides networking opportunities, educational programs, research and legislative representation.
