LV man gets prison time for sexual abuse

VICTORVILLE, Calif. -- A month after his son admitted lewd acts with a child, a Las Vegas man was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the continuous sexual abuse of young girls.

Clyde Clovis had been facing 45 years to life if convicted of multiple sex counts involving two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old.

After graphic testimony at a Victorville preliminary hearing, the 50-year-old Clovis pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of continuous sexual abuse and one count of lewd acts with a child. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

On Dec. 11, his 29-year-old son, Clyde Clovis II, pleaded guilty to one count of lewd or lascivious acts with a child and received nine years in prison.
