Judge postpones trial in Caesars Palace shooting

Clark County District Court Judge Donald Mosley on Wednesday told a prosecutor to turn over evidentiary items to the defense and indefinitely postponed trial for a man accused of wounding two people in a shooting at Caesars Palace.

Mosley scheduled a Nov. 20 status hearing for Richard Earl Shepherd, who has pleaded innocent to three charges of attempted murder in the Aug. 4 shooting at the Strip resort.

The shooting was caught on casino surveillance videotape. Officials alleged Shepherd first fought with several men after one made a remark about Shepherd's younger sister.

Shepherd, 34, could face life in prison. He is being held at the Clark County jail on $250,000 bail.
