Henderson residents lose home to fire

Saturday proved unlucky for some Henderson folks who lost their home after a fire ripped through it about 11:30 a.m., authorities said.

One person who was in the home was treated for smoke inhalation.

Henderson firefighters were called by neighbors at 11:25 a.m. with a report of a structure fire in the 1100 block of Pawnee Lane, near East Lake Mead Parkway and Center Street.

Firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke shooting out of the front of the one-story house, said Battalion Chief Doug Koopman. The blaze was under control in about 20 minutes, he said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation, but it is believed to be accidental, Koopman said.

Damage was estimated at $285,000 and the house was deemed to be a complete loss.
