Trooper says motorcyclist killed after car ran light

A 42-year-old Las Vegas man was killed in a collision Wednesday night on the Rainbow Boulevard bridge over U.S. Highway 95.

The victim was identified as John M. Landry.

Landry was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Rainbow about 9 p.m. when a 2003 Honda coupe heading south on Rainbow ran a red light and turned left in front of the Harley, said trooper Kevin Honea of the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The Harley collided with the passenger side of the Honda, throwing Landry and a 14-year-old male passenger, Honea said. Landry died at the scene. His passenger was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, Honea said.

The rider of another motorcycle avoided colliding with the Honda by sliding.
