Containment of storm fires near
Federal officials hoped by late Friday to fully contain the last of the wildfires ignited earlier this week by passing lightning storms.
The largest blaze at 80 acres, the Potosi fire in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, was in the mop-up stage Friday as Bureau of Land Management firefighters checked the area for hot spots.
The fire, on the south side of state Route 160, southwest of Las Vegas, was about two miles from the Boy Scout camp at Kimball Scout Reservation on Mount Potosi.
Both the Trout fire on the west side of the Spring Mountains and the Harris Springs fire near Mount Charleston were fully contained and being monitored by U.S. Forest Service firefighters.
No one was injured and no homes or businesses were threatened because of the fires.
