HORSE RACING

TODAY AT DEL MAR

By Richard Eng

Post Time 2 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $53,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Forever Irish - FTS from Cardenas has a bushel of bullet workouts on her resume; you have the edge of seeing the tote board.

Toy's Toy - Showed sharp improvement last time off a 9-month sabbatical; adding blinkers on, a repeat performance can win it.

Long Shot - Tiztuff

Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $28,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Here Comes Ray Ray - She got maybe the worst ride I saw the entire Hollywood meet in last; surprised the same rider returns.

A P Charlie - Logical chalk could not follow up a sharp maiden win, doing a classic pop and stop; should bounce back today.

Long Shot - Kissin Party

Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, 2-year-olds

Stormy Game - Check on Nakatani because he got hurt toward the end of last night's card; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.

Deanoguska - This is a reputation choice because the Miller barn is incredibly hot with its babies; like rider in Espinoza.

Long Shot - Check The Topper

Race 4 - 5 furlongs (turf), Purse $64,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Holly Torque Tango - Didn't run well over Calder slop in last, can be taken to atone; does not need the lead to succeed.

Coco Belle - She is a classy filly who has an edge in a condition race like this; solid speed to be a factor throughout.

Long Shot - Into Reality

Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Steelin' - Continues to slide down the claiming ladder to this bottom class level; her back races are just simply faster.

Cee My Tizzy Run - Wallace barn burned us with a sharp winner already, don't get fooled again; she can run a little bit.

Long Shot - Stiing'n Inthe Rain

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $10,000, 4-year-olds and up

French Souvenir - Still think he won that last head bob in a brutal beat; similar Polytrack try will put him right there.

Sixth Street Joe - Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; been away 3-months, this is his Polytrack debut, that can be tricky.

Long Shot - I'magambler

Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), $85,000 Harry F. Brubaker Handicap, 3-year-olds and up

Chattahoochee War - Would be worried returning from a year layoff, but this one is trained by Frankel; stakes horse tuning up.

Fast and Furious - Ran flat in the much tougher grade 1 Eddie Read; no After Market or The Tin Man to try and beat today.

Long Shot - Quasimodo

Race 8 - 7 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Mikey Bones - Tiny edge in the day's hardest race; like that she draws in from the also eligible, may give her more value.

Incredible - Mulhall barn is having one of those down years; she drops this filly to the bottom level in search of a win.

Long Shot - Larue

Best Bet - Steelin' (race 5)

Del Mar Wednesday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/6/$90.00; Long Shots, 8/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Del Mar Totals - 401/96/$690.60; Long Shots, 204/28/$327.60; Best Bets, 24/12/$52.80
