Wrong address leads to filing of complaint

CARSON CITY -- The Review-Journal filed a complaint Tuesday with the attorney general's office alleging the state Division of Environmental Protection violated the state's open meeting law.

The agency mailed out an agenda that stated its workshop meeting on proposed regulations covering greenhouse gas emissions would be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in a room at 901 S. Carson St. in Carson City.

There is no such address. A reporter found the meeting was being held at 901 S. Stewart St. in Carson City. The meeting coordinator refused to stop the meeting when told by the reporter of the problem with the address.

Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Director Allen Biaggi and Dante Pistone, a spokesman for the agency, later apologized. Pistone said the meeting was canceled later Tuesday morning and that a new meeting would be scheduled.
