Deliberations on Davidson to continue

The jury in the trial of real estate consultant Donald Davidson is to resume deliberations this morning after failing to reach a verdict Monday.

The 12-person jury has been deliberating since Wednesday morning. Davidson, 73, faces 28 federal charges including conspiracy, wire fraud, mail fraud and money laundering.

He is accused of paying former Clark County Commissioner Erin Kenny $200,000 for pushing through a CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Buffalo Drive and Desert Inn Road in 2001. He also is charged with paying her $3,000 a month for nearly three years after she voted in favor of a casino in the Spring Valley neighborhood.

If a verdict is not reached today, Kenny's sentencing hearing, set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, probably will be postponed again. Her sentencing date has been rescheduled 12 times. Because she testified at Davidson's trial, prosecutors do not want her to be sentenced while the jury is deliberating.
