Family raises $10,000 to find suspect

Relatives of a man who was shot dead last month have raised a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrest of the suspect, Las Vegas police said Monday.

Crime Stoppers added $2,000 to the reward in the hunt for 18-year-old Tommie Cleveland, who is charged with murder in the July 24 slaying of Lavelle Humes.

The 28-year-old was killed about 10:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of Marion Drive, near Lake Mead and Nellis boulevards, during a fight with a group of people, Las Vegas police said. Humes had been talking to some of the men before the fight, police said.

Cleveland is black, 5 feet 3 inches tall and 120 pounds. His street name is "Tommie Gun," according to police who consider him armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on Cleveland's whereabouts can leave anonymous tips with Crimes Stoppers at 385-5555 or can call police at 828-3521.
