Presidential candidates schedule campaign events around debate
Several Democratic presidential candidates will hold campaign events while they're in Nevada this week for Thursday's debate.
A few hours before the 5 p.m. debate, U.S. Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware will rally supporters at his Las Vegas headquarters. He'll be at the office in the Rancho Plaza Shopping Center, 2202 W. Charleston Blvd., at 11:30 a.m.
Around noon, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards plans to meet and greet Nevadans at Harrie's Bagelmania, 855 E. Twain Ave. #120. Edwards also will greet supporters rallying around Cox Pavilion, the debate hall, as he enters at 3:45 p.m.
After the debate, which ends at 7 p.m., Illinois Sen. Barack Obama will make an appearance at a debate-watching party of his supporters. The party is being held at Paradise Cantina, 4480 Paradise Rd., starting at 5 p.m.
Obama will head from there to the Clark County Democratic Party's fundraising dinner, where he is scheduled to speak second-to-last of the eight candidates attending.
The dinner is sold out, and tickets to attend the debate itself are no longer available. The debate will be broadcast live on CNN.
On Friday, Edwards will take a tour with a nurse of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Siena Campus in Henderson, then talk to the media outside around 10 a.m. He then jets off to California, returning to Nevada for an afternoon rally in Reno on Sunday.
Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich has two campaign events scheduled for Friday. At 10 a.m., he will appear at the College of Southern Nevada's West Charleston campus, in room C-222 of the student center. At 12:30 p.m., Kucinich is to hold a town hall in the moot court room at UNLV's Boyd School of Law.
New York Sen. Hillary Clinton travels to Northern Nevada on Friday, where she'll talk about energy at a power plant outside Fernley in the afternoon, then hold an organizing event in Reno in the evening.
On Saturday, Clinton returns to Southern Nevada. She'll hold a rally at 10:45 a.m. at Rancho High School, 1900 Searles Ave., where she'll formally accept the much sought-after endorsement of Assemblyman Ruben Kihuen in his North Las Vegas legislative district.
