Residential development continues in The Mesa Village in Summerlin

Summerlin's newest and most southern village developed to date, The Mesa, is already home to hundreds of residents and more are on their way, according to Julie Cleaver, director of design and planning for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

"As development continues in The Mesa, more and more home buyers will choose to call it home," Cleaver said. "Upon completion, the village will offer an unparalleled list of social, educational and recreational opportunities for residents -- all set in a picturesque neighborhood nestled against the Spring Mountains."

Currently, more than 20 home floor plans by three valley home builders are selling in Ladera, the village's first neighborhood.

Ladera Ridge by KB Home features four floor plans that range from 1,642 to 2,103 square feet and are priced starting in the high $200,000s.

Ladera Crest, also by KB Home, features six floor plans that range from 2,388 to 2,883 square feet and are priced starting in the low $300,000s.

Ladera Canyon by Richmond American Homes features nine floor plans that range from 1,750 to 2,800 square feet and are priced starting in the high $300,000s.

Ladera Terrace by Engle Homes features three floor plans that range from 2,031 to 2,574 square feet and are priced starting in the high $300,000s.

The neighborhood features amenities designed for the exclusive use of residents, including a pool area, children's playground and open lawn areas.

"These amenities add to the abundant lifestyle offerings in Summerlin and make Ladera an even more desirable address," Cleaver said.

The village's second neighborhood is expected to open in 2008 with homes by one of Summerlin's newest builders, Pageantry Homes.

In addition to the village's residential development, an 18-acre community park is well under way.

The park will feature baseball/softball fields, tennis courts and children's playgrounds.

"The Mesa Park is designed to maximize convenience and usability for our residents and features a variety of Summerlin's most popular amenities," Cleaver said. "It will be a great place to play, socialize and just pass time."

To visit The Mesa Village, travel south on Town Center Drive, past Tropicana Avenue. The village is a nearly 500-acre residential village that features a desert contemporary architectural style. Village and neighborhood entry monuments are marked with stonework and back-lit metal signs.

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990.

It is a 22,500-acre master-planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas valley.

The community is currently home to more than 95,000 residents. With about 7,500 acres still to develop, including its urban core, Summerlin Centre, Summerlin is continuing to unfold.

Summerlin is home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.
