Two dead, one injured after car hits pole, wall
Two people died early Saturday and another was seriously injured after the car they were traveling in spun out of control and hit a power pole, wall and power box.
Police said neither the driver of the 1994 Ford Mustang, nor the vehicle's other two passengers, was wearing a seat belt.
Police said the Mustang was eastbound on Charleston Boulevard around 2:54 a.m. when the driver made an abrupt lane change just east of 28th Street and clipped the left rear of a 2005 Honda Accord, which also was eastbound on Charleston.
The impact caused both vehicles to spin out of control. The Mustang came to a stop after crashing into the power pole, and the Honda collided with a nearby fire hydrant.
The driver of the Mustang and one of the back seat passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The car's other passenger, Joanne Farley, 27, who also was in the back seat, was taken to University Medical Center, police said.
Farley was in critical condition Saturday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The names of those who died in the crash weren't available Saturday.
The driver and sole occupant of the Honda, Edward Stibeck, 51, did not suffer any injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by Las Vegas police. Preliminary evidence showed speed caused the crash, police said.
BOULDER HIGHWAY
Pickup hits, kills woman in crosswalk
A pedestrian was killed Saturday morning when she was hit by a drunken driver on Boulder Highway.
Police said Terry K. Dickerman, 21, was driving a 2004 Toyota Tacoma southbound on Boulder Highway around 1:05 a.m. when he didn't stop for the woman, who was in a marked crosswalk near Kentucky Avenue, between Tropicana Avenue and Russell Road.
Dickerman and the truck's five teenage occupants fled the scene but returned a short time later, police said.
Jayson Gallios, 19, of Henderson; Laddie Willette, 19, of Las Vegas; Richard Murray, 19, of Las Vegas; and Ernesto Trevino, 18, of Pahrump, were all riding in the Tacoma. Police did not release the name of the truck's fifth occupant, a 15-year-old Henderson resident, because he is a juvenile.
No one in the Tacoma was injured.
Dickerman was booked into Clark County Detention Center for felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
The Clark County Coroner's office will not release the name of the pedestrian pending notification of next of kin.
