Crash on Sahara kills woman, 64

A 64-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed about 1:45 a.m. Sunday in a traffic crash on Sahara Avenue near Paradise Road, Las Vegas police said.

The woman, whose name was withheld by authorities, was driving northbound on Van Patten Street in a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis when she stopped her vehicle at Sahara.

She then drove into the intersection of Sahara and Van Patten, and her Mercury was struck on the driver's side by a 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer that was eastbound on Sahara, police said.

The Chevrolet's driver and passenger got out of the sport utility vehicle and ran from the wreckage, police said.

The driver of the Mercury was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about the crash can call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Las Vegas police at 828-3317.
