Sentencing for Davidson delayed

A sentencing hearing for Donald Davidson has been postponed to allow the real estate consultant to find a new attorney, according to federal court documents.

In July, a jury found Davidson guilty of six felony counts that included conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. The charges were related to Davidson's attempt to bribe then-Las Vegas City Councilman Michael McDonald in 2002.

Davidson, 73, was scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 26, but according to court documents, his new sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 21.

Davidson severed his relationship with attorney Dominic Gentile shortly after he was convicted.

Davidson could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

Davidson faced a total of 24 counts that included conspiracy, mail fraud and money laundering charges related to paying former Clark County Commissioner Erin Kenny for her vote on a controversial neighborhood casino and a pharmacy opposed by her constituents.

The jury deadlocked on the counts related to Kenny.

The government played intercepted phone conversations secretly taped by FBI agents to show that Davidson attempted to bribe McDonald. McDonald ended up distancing himself from Davidson.
