$3 million OK’d for Lake Tahoe environmental projects in California

STATELINE -- Projects to improve Lake Tahoe's water and air quality will receive a nearly $3 million boost under action taken this year by the bistate agency charged with protecting the lake's environment.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency authorized the release of mitigation funds for several environmental projects.

Set to receive about $850,000 are three erosion control projects associated with Angora wildfire rehabilitation efforts in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

TRPA earmarked another $428,000 in air quality mitigation for road improvements to the U.S. Highway 50-California Route 89 intersection.

Placer County, Calif., was authorized $450,000 for a Kings Beach water quality project, $150,000 for a Tahoe Pines erosion control project and $393,240 for an alternative fueling station.

Nevada received no mitigation funds this year.
