Woman killed in crash on U.S. 95

A 26-year-old Las Vegas woman died Wednesday evening from injuries suffered in a crash on U.S. Highway 95 near Decatur Boulevard.

Kimberly Mendoza was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo south on U.S. 95 when she ran off the road and into the paved shoulder, striking a concrete barrier wall before rotating across all three southbound lanes, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The driver's side of the Monte Carlo was then struck by a 1999 Ford Expedition.

Mendoza was taken to University Medical Center, but she succumbed to her injuries, officials said.

Officials said the preliminary finding was that Mendoza was not wearing her seat belt.
