Hit-and-run driver kills one

A 61-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed Friday after being struck by a red pickup as she crossed Harmon Avenue in the shadow of the Hard Rock Hotel, authorities said.

The woman was hit about 2 p.m. as she crossed midblock in a marked crosswalk, west of Paradise Road. The pickup was traveling east on Harmon, Las Vegas police said.

The pickup is described as a small, older model truck with a long bed. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was withheld by police.
