Energy Star to celebrate seventh year

Nevada Energy Star Partners, a voluntary coalition of Southern Nevada home builders, developers, retailers, mortgage providers, energy consultants and local utilities, is in its seventh year of operation.

The partnership features as many as 40 participants, including Amstar Homes, according to David McEntire, president of the home builder.

"Building energy-efficient homes is part of our commitment to our homeowners and the community we live in," McEntire said.

"Energy Star-rated homes are just one of many ways we strive to create a quality product for our customers while conserving natural resources at the same time."

In addition to funding a three-month, multi-media campaign to increase and build awareness for Energy Star, Amstar Homes has pledged its commitment to building homes that use less energy.

"With the rising cost of energy, we are striving to make our homes more affordable for homeowners," McEntire said.

"Energy costs are among home buyers' top concerns when purchasing a home. By building Energy Star-rated homes and offering our customers additional savings with Energy Star and Energy Star appliances, we help ease those concerns and ultimately save our customers money."

Amstar Homes offers Energy Star-rated homes in the community of Rosemont, two neighborhoods of Maravilla at Mountain's Edge and Riviera Ridge in Las Vegas.

To ensure its homes meet conservation standards, the builder has implemented the use of effective insulation, high performance windows, tight construction and ducts, efficient heating and cooling equipment and Energy Star-qualified lighting and appliances.
