Southern Highlands promotes shopping

Southern Highlands Development Corp. President Garry Goett announced plans today for a shopping and entertainment complex within the Southern Highlands master-planned community in the southwestern portion of the Las Vegas Valley.

With 300,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment, The Gallery Southern Highlands will also offer a collection of attached residences. The project will be an integral part of the previously announced Southern Highlands Casino Resort Spa, according to Goett.

"The Gallery Southern Highlands is the perfect complement to the wonderful community we've created at Southern Highlands," Goett said. "With its close proximity to the Southern Highlands Casino Resort Spa, these shops, cafes and restaurants will not only serve the nearby residents, but the huge tourist population that visits Las Vegas every year. We believe its spirit will be kindred to great shopping districts throughout the world."

Las Vegas receives as many as 23 million visitors annually by air, with an additional 16 million arriving by car, 75 percent of which come from Southern California via Interstate 15. The Gallery Southern Highlands will be situated on Interstate 15, at the Southern Highlands Parkway exit, making it the first collection of shopping, dining and living that motorists see when entering the Las Vegas Valley from California. In addition, nearly 700,000 Las Vegas residents live within a 20-minute drive of the complex, according to Goett, who says The Gallery will be strategically positioned, making it a natural choice for locals and visitors looking for a new shopping experience.

In addition to as many as 100 boutiques, The Gallery Southern Highlands will also feature four world-class dining destinations and a 14-screen, state-of-the-art multiplex, all set along a pedestrian-friendly, traditional "main street." The project will feature extensive landscaping, water features and outdoor events. Trolleys will circle through the complex.

Retail brokerage firm Blatteis & Schnur will be the exclusive leasing agents for the project. Complete plans for The Gallery Southern Highlands will be unveiled during the International Council of Shopping Centers' spring convention, held in Las Vegas May 20-23.
