The man, a Las Vegas resident whose name was withheld by police, was southbound on Torrey Pines in a 1993 Nissan pickup about 6:15 a.m. when he failed to stop at the red light at Charleston and struck a 2005 Mazda 3 driven by 23-year-old Las Vegas resident Heidi Sayles, police said.

Toddler shot, injured at baby shower at park
A 2-year-old girl was shot at a baby shower in a park near Durango Drive and U.S. Highway 95 on Sunday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.
The child was taken to University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, Las Vegas police said. She is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
The shooting occurred about 11:45 a.m. in a park near the 9500 block of Quitman Avenue. Police said a man who had brought a gun to the baby shower accidentally fired it.
The Metropolitan Police Department's abuse and neglect unit was investigating the shooting, but police on Sunday night said they didn't know whether the man who fired the gun would face charges.
Several people at the park who were taking down decorations for the baby shower wouldn't discuss the shooting Sunday afternoon.
One neighbor who declined to be identified said, "Why there was a gun at a baby shower is beyond me."
