Suspect pleads guilty in drug cartel kidnapping

Adolph Vargas, one of five defendants indicted in the 2008 kidnapping of 6-year-old Cole Puffinburger, pleaded guilty to drug and money laundering charges Tuesday in federal court in Las Vegas. Four other defendants, including two men charged with abducting the boy from his home over a drug deal gone bad, are to stand trial next week.

Man shoots at robber at North Las Vegas Walmart

An attempted robbery in a North Las Vegas Walmart parking lot Tuesday afternoon ended with the intended victim shooting at the robber, North Las Vegas police said. The shooting occurred about 3:20 p.m. at a store at 3950 W. Lake Mead Blvd., near Rancho Drive.
