17-year-old girl drowns in river

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. -- A teenage girl from Nevada has drowned in the Colorado River along the Bullhead City shore, authorities said Sunday.

Fire Department spokesman Larry Tunforss said the 17-year-old victim was from Laughlin.

Witnesses said the victim was in the river with two other girls at Davis Camp near the Laughlin casino district. The three were swimming and pushing a raft back toward the beach when the two girls noticed the other was missing.

The victim was found Sunday evening, an estimated 21/2 miles south of the Davis Camp Beach.
