2 dead in small plane crash in Northern Nevada

CARSON CITY — Two people are dead following a small plane crash in Lyon County.

A motorist driving by the crash site discovered the downed plane around 3:30 p.m. Friday in Misfits Flats, an area in Stagecoach about 25 miles east of Carson City, according to authorities.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor told KRNV-TV that the single-engine plane went down late Thursday or early Friday.

Lyon County authorities said two people aboard the plane were found dead. Their names were being withheld until relatives are notified.
