$260,000 gift will allow Boulder Dam Hotel to reopen

An anonymous donor gave $260,000 to a nonprofit group so that the 76-year-old Boulder Dam Hotel can reopen for business on Wednesday, Sara Denton, a friend of the woman, confirmed Monday.

The money was given to the Boulder City Museum and Historic Association, the nonprofit group that owns the hotel, which had ran out of money.

“Hopefully, this will encourage other people to come forward (with donations),” Denton said.

The hotel was closed on July 11 after the city Redevelopment Agency board deadlocked 2-2 in a vote to make a loan or grant for the hotel.
