4 killed in crash on northeastern Nevada road

SPRING CREEK — Four people are dead and two others injured after a two-vehicle crash in northeastern Nevada.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said the crash happened Tuesday night on state Route 227 in Spring Creek, just south of Elko.

Authorities said Spring Creek resident Jessica Layton was making a left turn when another vehicle struck hers on the right side. Layton’s vehicle overturned, striking a light pole and knocking it over.

Two of Layton’s passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 3-year-old girl, and the two passengers in the other vehicle, a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, died.

Their names were not immediately released.

Authorities said Layton and a 6-year-old girl were treated for injuries.
