KINGMAN, Ariz. -- The founder of a northern Arizona chapter of the immigration-focused Minutemen launched a recall campaign Monday targeting the chairman of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors.
Luca Zanna said board Chairman Tom Sockwell, a Bullhead City Republican, should be ousted from office for failing to protect the rights of individuals.
Weeks of debate have led to a reinforcement of a ban of political rallies on the county government campus in Kingman and a new policy that forces people to check their firearms before entering the building where supervisors meet.
The firearms ban was started last month after Mervin Fried of Kingman was arrested when he entered the building while holding a pitchfork in protest.
Sockwell has said that no one needs to bring weapons to a meeting .
