VIRGINIA CITY -- For the first time in nearly 30 years, the historic mining town of Virginia City will have a practicing physician.
Dr. Quinn Pauly, who has had a practice in south Reno for the past six years, said he will branch out by opening a second practice in a portion of the Comstock Community Church.
"I have been thinking about it for a while, and it isn't that far from my (Reno) office," the 42-year-old family physician said. "I think it could be a real benefit for the community and a business opportunity for me."
Pauly said he would start out by working from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays in Virginia City, about 20 miles southeast of Reno.
Joe Curtis, Storey County emergency management director, said the last doctor to practice in Virginia City left in the late 1970s.
