Air quality advisory in effect today
July 29, 2009 - 9:00 pm
An air quality advisory is in effect through today for Clark County.
High temperatures, strong sunlight and pollutants from vehicles can cause ground-level ozone to build up.
Harmful levels of ozone are possible, the county Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management said.
People should limit strenuous outdoor activity when ozone levels are elevated, especially people who have asthma and other respiratory problems.
Ozone builds up most during afternoon, and air quality officials suggest avoiding activities that use or require gasoline, such as unnecessary driving or filling a gasoline tank.
