Analyst Lerner named to board at cancer institute

Casino analyst Bill Lerner has joined the board of directors at the Nevada Cancer Institute, a nonprofit that provides research and care toward reducing the condition.

Lerner is a partner in Union Gaming Group, a casino research and advisory firm based in Las Vegas. Before starting the firm, Lerner was a Wall Street analyst for 14 years.

The Las Vegas-based institute was co-founded by husband and wife Jim and Heather Murren. Heather Murren was the group's first chairwoman, while Jim Murren is the chief executive of casino operator MGM Mirage.
