Analyst tells Economic Forum that Nevada is in recession
CARSON CITY -- Nevada is in a recession right now and the outlook won’t improve in the short term, an analyst today told a panel of business people charged with projecting tax revenues for the upcoming state budget.
“The recession is already here, in our opinion,” said James Diffley, director of the U.S. Regional Services Group of Global Insight. “Nevada is in a recession now.”
Diffley made his comments to the Economic Forum, a five-member panel of private citizens that will tell Gov. Jim Gibbons by Dec. 1 how much money he can spend on the state's 2009-11 budget.
