Another helicopter lands at Lake Mead recreation area

A tour helicopter made an emergency landing Thursday at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the National Park Service said.

No one was reported injured.

The incident represents the second time this week a tour helicopter in distress has landed at Lake Mead.

Thursday's landing happened about 6:20 p.m. A tour helicopter operated by Sundance Helicopters of Las Vegas was on a return flight from the Grand Canyon. Seven people were on board, including the pilot, the park service said.

The pilot decided to land after alarms and warnings went off, indicating an electrical problem.

On Monday, a tour helicopter made an emergency landing after striking a bird midflight. That helicopter was operated by Maverick Helicopters Inc. The pilot suffered lacerations to his face, but the six passengers were uninjured.
